SECOND HAND & VINTAGE STORES

31. Why With Bogart is sharing second hand and vintage stores.

1. What is With Bogart?

Finding stores with fashion that suits your style and your budget, in the country or countries you wish to shop, can be like finding a needle in a haystack. With Bogart is designed to change this.

With Bogart is not a buying platform, but a gateway to a Virtual Shopping Mall: a collection of thousands of online stores from around the world, organised to personalise, simplify, and modernise online shopping. And this collection continues to grow as new stores are added every week.

At the moment we list stores from Australia, Canada, Europe, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States. These stores have been individually selected based on what they offer you and are organised according to the average price of their stock, where the store will ship from, and the styles of clothing they sell.

You also have the option to save the stores you love to a Favourites list so you can find them easily whenever you visit With Bogart.

And every week we publish new blogs covering what's trending, shopping, style inspiration, health and wellness, and social topics, while also posting regularly to our social media accounts.

2. How does With Bogart work?

All stores listed on With Bogart are organised according to the average price of their stock, where the store ships from, and the styles of clothing they sell. Some stores have a base in more than one country and will be listed accordingly.

There are now two shopping features available to you: Designers and Boutiques and Second Hand and Vintage stores.

With both of these shopping options you can refine your search by selecting the price ranges that work for you, the country or countries you wish to shop, and the styles of clothing you'd like to see.  And when you shop Second Hand and Vintage stores, you can further refine your shopping by selecting the products you're most interested in.

You then click on a store's profile to open the store in a new window, which means you can look at multiple stores at a time while keeping With Bogart open in your browser.

New stores are regularly added and these are listed under 'What's New' in the menu to make them easy for you to find.

Also, if you have an account on With Bogart you have the option to save stores to your Favourites list so you can find them easily whenever you visit.

    4. How is With Bogart different?

Firstly, With Bogart offers dedicated attention to each of the countries and continents we list, not just the US and the UK. Yay!

Next, With Bogart was created to reduce the carbon footprint associated with shopping online and buying from overseas by offering you a vast selection of stores that may interest you that are closer to home.

Each store has been organised to appear only under the country or countries they post from. This means that if you select to view just those stores listed under your country, you know your purchase will actually be posted locally, not from overseas. And this means reduced carbon emissions!

This also means you won't be surprised at checkout by shipping costs, currencies, import charges and taxes, lengthy shipping time frames, or costly return fees. Nor will you spend time shopping and adding items to your cart only to discover the store doesn't ship to your address!

You also have the option to refine the stores you look at to those which offer the styles you enjoy, so you're not endlessly looking through fashion that doesn't work for you. And we offer a diverse selection of styles, from sexy or glamorous party wear, to bold alternative labels, to timeless chic. It's all here just waiting for you!

    SHOPPING ON WITH BOGART

    5. Is With Bogart involved in transactions?

With Bogart is not involved in any transactions or purchases. When you click on a store profile you will be redirected to that store in a new window. All transactions and purchases will be made through that store.

    6. If I have a question or problem with a transaction or purchase, who should I contact?

If you have any questions or problems regarding a transaction or purchase you made from a store listed on With Bogart, always contact the store you purchased from directly.

    7. How are stores organised?

The stores listed on With Bogart are organised according to the average price range of their products, where the store ships from, and the styles of clothing the store offers.

Some stores have a base in more than one country and these stores will appear under each of those locations on the shopping page. A store's profile will show where they are shipping from so you can still choose which works best for you.

Other stores might ship from more than one country but predominately one, in which case they will be listed under the dominant shipping location. So just check you're happy with the shipping situation before you checkout.

The location of all stores listed on With Bogart are correct to the best of our knowledge. However, we are human so there is the possibility of an error occurring in our listing of a store or a store changing their base without our knowledge. So again, just check you're happy with the shipping situation before you checkout.

    8. What price categories are used on With Bogart?

The stores listed on With Bogart have been organised according to the average price range of their products. These price ranges are:

    • Australia: Under $65; $65 to $130; $130 to $325; $325 to $650; Over $650
    • Canada: Under $65; $65 to $130; $130 to $325; $325 to $650; Over $650
    • Europe: Under €45; €45 to €90; €90 to €225; €225 to €450; Over €450
    • New Zealand: Under $65; $65 to $130; $130 to $325; $325 to $650; Over $650
    • United Kingdom: Under £40; £40 to £80; £80 to £200; £200 to £400; Over £400
    • United States: Under $50; $50 to $100; $100 to $250; $250 to $500; Over $500

When you're on the shopping page the stores appear in 'profiles' which show information about that store including the average price range of the products they sell, which represent the price groups shown above. We illustrate these price groups using currency symbols. For example, stores with products that fall into the lowest group will feature a single currency symbol relevant to the currency that has been selected: $ (dollar), £ (pound), or € (euro). We offer five separate price groups and so stores appearing in the most expenisive of these groups will feature five currency symbols on their store profile (eg. $$$$$ = Over AU$650).

    26. What DO the style Categories appearing in the filter menu Mean ?

This option in the filter menu means you can select the styles of clothing you enjoy and therefore narrow down the stores you see on the shopping page. Under some style categories we have included more than one style if they are similar. Below you'll find a description for each of these.

    • Androgynous: Androgynous style clothing refers to a style that is neither feminine nor masculine. Androgynous clothing is characterised by ambiguous looks that aren't of the typical female or male gender norms such as pant suits, jeans with a blazer and loose fitting shirt, and shapeless items that don’t define the bodies silhouette.
    • Boho: Boho style clothing is characterised by relaxed flowing or tiered skirts and dresses, peasant blouses, embroidery and beading embellishments: gypsy Bohemian styles. The look is often layered and colorful. A style that’s perfect for summer weekends. On With Bogart this category also includes folk and modern prairie-style pieces.
    • Casual: This refers to casual, comfortable clothing suitable for daily tasks from walking the dog to grabbing some groceries. Perfect for a rainy day-Netflix-binge! Or COVID lockdown…:(
    • Chic: Think of chic style as an uncomplicated look put together with little effort using pieces that are timeless classics with a modern tone.
    • Contemporary: The stores appearing in this category offer clothes with a modern take and a designer aesthetic. Not wild and avant-garde, but current and of-the-moment.
    • Innovative: This refers to fashion that goes against the mainstream and stands out in the crowd. Like those described as Contemporary, the clothing appearing under this label are modern in style, however they extend this modernism further to styles which are unique, experimental and often game-changing.
    • Girl-Next-Door: A very feminine look that suggests a young carefree ‘sweet girl’ character.
    • Loungewear & Sweats: These days loungewear clothing and sweats have reached a fashion ranking higher than their predecessor, the standard casuals. These pieces are still comfortable and relaxed but come with a chic edge suitable for much more than wearing at home.
    • Minimalist: The very opposite to ‘Avant-Garde’, minimalist fashion is a modern style, but one without any frills or fancy. Minimalist fashion means stripping back and keeping the look simple with streamlined shapes, simple styles, and minimal colour.
    • Occasion Wear: As the name suggests stores listed under this category offer some fancy options. The sort of clothes you’ll be looking for when parties or weddings or a day at the races are scheduled.
    • Original Classic: Fashion with a simple moderate look that’s not based on modern styles or trends, but remains relevant to those who appreciate it.
    • Preppy: Historically the word 'preppy' was used to describe a subculture of upper class youth born into old money in the United States. These days we don't need a history of prosperity to enjoy the style. Think blazers, slim knits and cardigans, sweater vests, polo tops and dresses, Breton stripes, and collared shirts. Imagine a carefree day sailing the bay with girlfriends whilst enjoying a gin and tonic on ice. We've also included in this group stores which offer a girl-next-door look: innocent, sweet, and a little 'girly'.
    • Resort: Also known as travel or holiday collections, resort wear refers to beachwear and relaxed summer dresses and signals a luxury lifestyle of cocktails by the pool and screams (but in a very reserved manner) ‘relaxed’!
    • Retro: Retro fashion refers to all clothing with a vintage-look. Nothing Shakespeare-like, but clothes representing styles from fashion's past. It could be neon colours from the 80's, a flared 'psychedelic' pant from the 70's, or a real revisit to times gone by with rockabilly style from the 50's. If it's not a look from recent times, it's a retro look.
    • Rock & Grunge: Both popularised by rock bands in the 80’s and early 90’s, these styles generally appear in dark colours and share looks such as combat boots, ripped jeans, screen print tees and sexy mini dresses, implying a wild night rather than a quiet dinner with Grandma. This category also includes styles representing emo, indie, and punk fashion.
    • Romantic & Elegant: This is a style that exudes a gentle, feminine tone with frequent ruffles and soft colours. A look that summons thoughts of a romantic picnic - a very well dressed romantic picnic - in a field of fresh daisies.
    • Sexy & Glamorous: These styles are pretty self explanatory - when you see them you think magnetism and seduction.
    27. Where will I find Blogs on With Bogart?

The 'Musings' option in the menu on With Bogart is where you'll find our fabulous (if we do say so ourselves) blogs on a range of topics including style, trends, shopping, wellness, lifestyle and social matters.

      28. HOW DO I STAY SAFE WHEN I'M SHOPPING ONLINE?

It always pays to be mindful when you're shopping online to make sure you get what you're expecting. At With Bogart we've done our best to check the legitimacy of each store that we list, but we still want you to be careful.

If you are uncertain about a store you can look for customer reviews to see what experiences others have had when shopping with them. And payment options such as PayPal can  provide a safer transaction than credit or debit card as no one has direct access to your account details. But at the end of the day, if you feel uncomfortable then it might be best to look elsewhere.

      29. How do I suggest stores that are not listed on With Bogart?

We are always looking for great new stores to list on With Bogart so if there are any you enjoy that are not yet listed, we’d love to hear from you. You can send us a message here or email us at hello@withbogart.com.

      30. How do I suggest improvements to the With Bogart website?

We want your experience on our site to be the very best it can be, so if there's anything you think we could do better or anything we should add, please let us know by sending us a message here or email us at hello@withbogart.com.

      31. Why With Bogart is sharing second hand and vintage stores:

We’re all very aware of the severe situation we and our planet face in terms of climate change. We see the consequences of this daily from record-breaking floods and uncontrollable fires to droughts and famines.

And fashion is one of the industries contributing significantly to the situation that fuels this endless battle. From the damage caused by pesticides, excess water usage, transporting products, overproduction, waste and landfill, and much more fashion certainly has a responsibility it needs to take on now.

One of the reasons With Bogart came to be was the concern I felt related to shopping online and the distance parcels travel when shoppers bought from abroad. This meant parcels often travelling by air and contributing significantly to CO2 emissions.

With Bogart intended to offer shoppers a simple way to find stores that worked for them closer to home and reduce their carbon footprint when shopping online.

And now, the impact of fashion on the environment is the reason With Bogart has released a collection of second hand stores from around the world, again offering people a way to reduce the damage caused by new fashion.

The emergence of second hand clothing as a primary source of fashion is so powerful and continues to grow in popularity. It has been determined that the clothing resale market in 2022 is growing 11 times faster than traditional forms of retail. Great news for our planet, people, and wildlife.

With Bogart will continue to search for stores providing second hand clothes that we can share with you offering you more and more options over time to reduce your carbon footprint when it comes to fashion and shopping.

Make sure you sign up for emails so we can let you know when new stores arrive!
