Known as the pioneers of ‘ugly’ sandals, years ago Birkenstock were nothing more than a comfortable, relaxed shoe that were
popular for kicking around in and wearing for years.
Over time their popularity has skyrocketed with stores everywhere stocking their products.
These days however, it’s another story altogether as Birkenstock collaborations mean the brand is mixing it up with some of the
world's leading designers creating luxury pieces that are selling out faster than rapid antigen test kits!
Birkenstock's collaborations have found them working with luxury brands like Jil Sander, Proenza Schouler, Rick Ownens and Valentino
Garavani.
All big names in the world of fashion.
It’s not the first time Birkenstock has had collaborations with high-end designers.
Just in 2020 they created another collection with Proenza Schouler focusing on canvas material for a lighter summer look.
This time leather has been the central material and detailed craftsmanship the central focus.
In a press release Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler explained, “Birkenstock and Proenza Schouler both share a
common respect and admiration for the craftsmanship and detailed work that is integral to all of our products. We are excited to pick up
where we left off and expand on the collection with fresh colorways that feel very in the moment and true to our brand.”
The challenge for those of us looking for our own pair, however, is finding them before they sell out!
So, I’ve done the searching for you and put together a collection of 26 pairs still available when this editorial was updated.
Not all of these are designer collaborations with Birkenstock, but they're all Birkenstock and they're all fabulous shoes!
And along with these updates, this time round I've also included some styling ideas for how to make the most of your Birkenstocks in
your wardrobe.
Shop now to get your pair before they’re gone!
